Another FCRSC National Specialty is in the books! I had the pleasure of co-chairing the 2018 Specialty with Liz Saunders and Darren Hockman. The weather was indeed memorable with high’s in the mid-30’s on Thursday and Friday, lovely and cool on Saturday to cold, rainy, windy on Sunday. Congratulations to all of the participants and winners at the Specialty and at the Edmonton Kennel Club all breed shows! It was great to re-connect with old friends and make new ones, too! Skylar (Ch. Inglis Kountry Skye PCD RN) qualified with her first leg in Rally Obedience Intermediate with first in her class at the FCRSC Rally trial. Kirby (Inglis Kountry Cowboy) was shown by Anna Daly and looked great in the ring. He placed first in the the Canadian Bred Class. Casey (MBIS RBIS RBPIS Can GCH/AM Ch Heirborn Above The Law WC RI PCD CGN) made the cut in a strong class of 27 male specials. Lucy (BPISS BOSS Can. GCh. AM. CH. Huntlane Kountry Moon Can PCD CGN RI Am RN) was show by Sandy Steinbach and looked lovely in the ring. Lucy was super excited to be back in the show ring. Skylar was shown by our daughter, Katie Aadland and looked lovely as well. We were so happy to have two of Casey X Lucy’s baby puppies at the show – Inglis Chanda’s Magical Light (Judy Perkins) and Inglis Once in a Blue Moon (Sandy Steinbach & Doug Steinbach). Both puppies had a fun time at the show , placing 2nd and 3rd in the Female Baby Puppy class. They loved meeting everyone! Casey and his two girls placed 2nd in the Stud Dog class. We had so much fun showing in the class! Lucy and her four progeny (Kirby, Skylar, Luna and Raze) looked wonderful in a large Brood Bitch class. Casey also placed 2nd in the large class of 11 Working Males. At the annual specialty dinner, the Flat-Coated Retriever Society of Canada presents awards to Club members who have achieved special recognition with their dogs and we were honored to be presented with two awards for Casey. The Outstanding Achievement Award for his two Best in Show wins in 2017 and the All Round Retriever Award which recognizes those owners and dogs who compete in (3) specific disciplines; conformation, obedience and field. Brent took many, many photos at the show and here are just a few…. To top off the weekend, Casey was awarded Select Male, in another strong line-up of male specials, at the EKC Show on Sunday (in the rain). Time to unpack the motorhome and reflect on the terrific memories from the weekend.
